Russia Bans Facebook-Twitter-YouTube
Russia has banned Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube in the wake of the war with Ukraine. Russia’s dispatches watchdog Roscommonadzor banned the services in the country on Friday (March 4th). This was reported by the transnational media’s Guardian’. The same news was published by Reuters, Al-Jazeera, Morning Express, Sky News, and numerous other transnational media.
In March, the Russian Federation decided to block the use of the Facebook network ( possessed by Meta Platform), according to CNN, citing Russia’s dispatches controller. Meta-chairman Nick Clegg said the decision would cut off Russian druggies from” dependable sources of information.”
Facebook’s parent company Meta said, but Instagram and WhatsApp are still working in the country. Meanwhile, the Tas News Agency reported that Russia’s dispatches watchdog Roscommonadzor had confined its use of Twitter on Friday.
According to Interfax and the RIA Novosti news agency, the use of Twitter in Russia has been confined since February 24 at the request of the prosecutor’s office. Facebook says Russia’s move would turn millions down from a platform for participating dependable information and opinions.
Nick Clegg, vice chairman of Meter Global Affairs, a parent company of Facebook, said Russian authorities are adding pressure on the independent media.
